Job Description:
Empire State University's School for Graduate Studies is currently seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Higher Education Leadership. The successful candidate will work with students in the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Change program and the area of expertise for this position is open to applicants whose research intersects education leadership and higher education.
Responsibilities include teaching and advising in the Division of Education, working with the academic coordinator to develop online courses, sustaining a research program, supervising doctoral research, serving on doctoral committees, and engaging in service. There may also be teaching and course development in master's level programs, as appropriate.
The School for Graduate Studies serves over 1,000 students per year in several degree and certificate programs offered in online and blended formats. The Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Change is the university's first doctoral program. Our faculty are committed to meeting the needs of adult learners and are dedicated to mentoring, motivating, and supporting our graduate students through consistent advisement, engaging instruction, and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the faculty role. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research/practice utilizes quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods to focus on diversity, equity, and social justice, centering the experiences of historically marginalized groups and communities. This work might consider students, staff, faculty, higher education institutions, and/or policy systems and structures.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in Higher Education Leadership or a related field from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or comparable non-U.S. college or university.
Prior experience in graduate-level teaching.
The ability to develop and teach courses in educational leadership and change in higher education at the graduate-level.
The ability to develop and teach courses in advanced research methods.
An active commitment to scholarly work, or has the potential for, a coherent and robust research.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
The desire and skills to engage with a diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in online and blended teaching formats.
Doctoral level teaching experience.
Experience chairing dissertations.
Potential for and/or record of an extramurally funded program of research.
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Special Information:
Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university commitments.
Office hours (primarily online) will vary to accommodate students' needs.
Teaching in evening and weekend residencies and retreats per program needs will be required.

Additional Information:
Rank/Salary: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, 12-month appointment, $80,000.
